While working on that second map, I noticed that my FPS dropped with +- 800. Something had to be done! I managed to rework the map structure (AGAIN) to make for a faster and more lightweight system. So, while I’m not back at 1000 FPS, I’m getting close.
Things to do:
- make more maps
- add action skill
- add interaction
- add enemies if I want to
- redo the dude sprite
- write story
- add sound
I can do this. Gogogo.
Screw platforming. Screw jumping.
What’s changed? Topdown view and a massive increase in FPS because of some changes to the backend.
Nothing much happened visually.
I updated the jumping, which would sometimes send the player flying. And I updated the world drawing process. Not the most elegant solution, but one that will allow me to quickly add new maps, which is the aim of LD, right.
And because people like images:
Jump, little man, like you’ve never jumped before.
So, Ludum Dare started. And I’m just past the one hour of code point. Setting up my workstation took longer than expected. But here’s what I’ve got already:
Only like the best game ever, right?
